A New Era Begins: La Porte Assembly takes ownership of Olive Chapel

Olive Chapel Cross

On September 15, 2023, La Porte Assembly of God (244 E Boyd Blvd, La Porte, Indiana) officially assumed ownership of Olive Chapel, located at 32987 IN-2, New Carlisle, IN 46552. This transition marked the beginning of a new chapter for a historic church that had served the New Carlisle community for generations.

For several years, the remaining congregation of Olive Chapel had been praying and seeking help to revitalize the ministry they deeply loved. Their desire was simple and heartfelt:
to see Olive Chapel thrive again, reaching families and shaping the spiritual future of New Carlisle.

Seeing the need, La Porte Assembly stepped in with a commitment to honor the church’s legacy while leading it into a season of restoration, renewal, and growth. The goal was—and still is—to bring new life, fresh vision, and vibrant ministry back into this historic house of worship.

The Beginning of Restoration

On June 2, 2024, Olive Chapel temporarily closed its doors so that a full restoration of the building, grounds, and ministry systems could begin. This process has included:

  • Significant structural and aesthetic renovations

  • Modern updates to create a welcoming, family-friendly environment

  • Preparing new ministry spaces for worship, kids, and community gatherings

  • Prayerful planning for the relaunch of weekly services

What began as a needed renovation quickly became a God-sized story of hope and renewal.

Why We’re Doing This

This journey is about far more than renovation.
It’s about revitalizing a historic church, rebuilding community, and creating a place where:

  • Families can grow in faith

  • Relationships can flourish

  • Real people can encounter the real God

  • The New Carlisle community can find hope, belonging, and purpose

The heart behind Olive Chapel’s restoration is the same heart behind its future:

To help people know Jesus, grow in faith, and make an eternal impact in their community.
